Today is a brand new day, December 22, 2012, the first day after the Winter Solstice. It is also the first day of the new cycle of the Mayan Long-count calendar, Bak’tun 13. The date is 5 Imoox 4 Q’anq’iij.
It is the first day after the shortest day of the year, the sun is returning after a long sleep, and extended darkness. Hope for new light awaits on the horizon.
The cosmos is cyclical. In this new era, this new day, may we reach the peace and understanding of our ancestors. May we be renewed by the knowledge of the most sacred and the most ancient
“…What preceded life? the earth.
What preceded the earth? the universe.
What preceded the universe?
The soundless shapeless, origin of origins,
ever transforming and having no beginning nor end…”
-Tao Te Ching, by Lao Tzu; translated by Ralph Alan Dale
We feel it in our bones. We know the direction we are headed. And even amidst the clouds and darkness, we can still see the sliver of light beckoning.
We have a collective dream. We have an ancient yearning for peace, harmony, and balance. The human consciousness shifts, and patiently we wait.
We embrace the day and new beginnings, allowing the warmth to creep over us and melt away the clouds. We rejoice.
“…Because this Great Integrity
created the universe,
And the universe created the earth,
And the earth created us.
we are all incredibly great.
from the nature of the earth.
The earth derives
from the nature of the universe.
The universe derives
from the nature of the Great Integrity
And the Great Integrity
is the omnipresent, omnigenous omniform,
the universal material and spiritual substance,
and the holoversal linkage
and coition of existence.”
-“Tao Te Ching,” by Lao Tsu; translated by Ralph Alan Dale
