I passed this display of Jewish cookbooks, with selected images hung on the walls. I really like these simple drawings because they capture intimate images of culture and tradition in a simple way that the viewer is not distracted by colors and textures. It allows you to focus in on the message of family, clothing, values, customs, and food.
I also of course like to peruse the different recipes for delicious traditional food like challah, red beet soup (borscht), matzo ball soup, gefilte fish, kugel – and also more modern food like the Kosher Chinese Cookbook, and low-fat vegetarian Jewish cooking 🙂
Made me hungry, wanting to experiment in the kitchen, and with my new pigment ink pens….
